Re: Internally Displaced Persons in Sri Lanka – Relief Efforts
We are writing this letter to express the desperate need for basic necessities in the war torn areas of Sri Lanka. As you may be aware, thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (“IDP”) have been transported to Trincomalee, Sri Lanka recently.
We have been in contact with the local workers in the affected areas and are committed to helping them in any way possible. Due to the urgency of the need for assistance, we believe that the most efficient way of helping is to provide financial support. We intend to channel funds to St. Nicholas Church (Rev. M. Paul Harold) and the CACM – Grace Church (Rev. J. Gnanapragasam) located in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka. They are well equipped to purchase food, clothing, shelter and medicine and distribute them to those in need. They have been instructed to use 100% of the funds specifically for the IDP - relief efforts and will be providing periodic reports about the crisis and the use of the funds. We will be posting these updates on our website periodically.
We would be grateful if you would be able to partner with us in these efforts. Cheques may be drawn in favour of “The Tamil Christian Church of Canada” and mailed to the address below or handed in directly to our church. Please reference your donations as “IDP - relief efforts”. All donations will be acknowledged with a 2009 donation receipt. Please feel free to forward this appeal letter to your extended family and friends.
The need is desperate, timing is immediate and your support is essential.
“To the world, you might be one person; but to one person, you just might be the world”.
Please continue to uphold the victims and the workers in your prayers.
